Digital controls are buttons or
similar mechanisms that alter settings in discrete steps, in contrast with
the infinitely variable analog controls such as dials. The advantage of
digital controls on a monitor is that you can store settings in memory and
recall them (often automatically) at a later time. This lets you change
resolutions without constantly fiddling with controls to correct the
