PICS

PICS is a specification in the latest official versions of HTML that allows Web developers to include HTML tags with information about their site's content. It can be used for code signing and privacy, but is generally used to keep kids away from adult-oriented content. Current Web browsers and filtering software read PICS tags, then decide whether or not to show the site based on preferences set by parents (or bosses, teachers, librarians, etc.).
